​How We Met
​
There were several times they could have met. Like the tailgate that Tyler left right before Kara got there, or at a friend's party they both remember attending. Who knows, they could have walked right past each other at Nick's after a basketball game. Their timing was never just right.
It wasn't until February 15, 2013 at their friend's, Josh and Kate James' engagement party that their paths finally crossed. Of course it helped that Kate had told Kara all about Tyler months before, and yes, even after that she still couldn't wait to meet him!
When Kara first saw Tyler walk into Crazy Horse that night she couldn't wait to go
talk to him. Luckily,
Kara knew just what to
say to get his attention,
thanks to Kate.

After that night, Tyler
and Kara were
inseparable.

The Proposal
​
Before they met, Tyler worked as a Forester at the Hoosier National Forest in Bloomington, IN. So when they first started dating Tyler took Kara hiking there and showed her all the trails he helped build. On their first trip out he led her to the edge of Lake Monroe and they sat down on a large rock overlooking the water. It was there on that rock that Tyler knew he loved Kara and wanted to spend the rest of his life with her.
A little over a year later, on September 1st, 2014, they went hiking at the Hoosier National Forest again. After a lengthy four miles into the hike Kara realized they were back at the same large rock overlooking Lake Monroe.
Tyler sat down on the rock and
unpacked the lunch he packed
that morning - the same lunch
from their first hike. After they
finished eating Kara got up to
play fetch with their lab, Paxton.
With her back to Tyler, he pulled
out a little black box from their
backpack, got down on one knee
and said, "There's actually a
reason why I brought you back
to this exact spot."
